I am officially hyped and ready for season 3 of My Adventures with Superman now that I have watched the first two seasons. The show is absolutely delightful! I said it reminded me of my childhood anime series that I watched and it definitely does, but it also reminds me of a few cartoon series that I watched as well. All in all, this show is going up there on my list of favorite animated series. It's such a charming little show and is so good.

I watched the show for Kara and she is definitely great, but I really fell in love with the entire show and the whole cast of characters. I might make a more detailed post later going into all the things I love about the show, but for now I am just excited for season 3 and where the story will go from here.

Kara was so cute. She kind of reminds of Adora from She-Ra and the Princesses of Power in the sense of being this really pure-hearted and good person who is manipulated by others. I'm looking forward to seeing how she adapts to life on earth and being Supergirl and how the show will balance the relationships. Obviously, they're setting up an adorable romance between Kara and Jimmy, but I hope season 2 continues to develop her relationships with other characters. Her cousin, Clark, of course, but I'd also love to see her interact more with Lois and the other Kents. And new characters potentially.

The Kara in the show is a very different take on the character than the ones I'm familiar with from the comics and other mediums, but I think it works really well. And I do quite like this take on Krypton where Krypton is shown to be a hugely flawed place, an Empire, but not a place of total evil. I was anticipating the reveal of Brainiac having had destroyed Krypton and I really like how it came about and what type of story it tells.

Speaking of adaptational changes, this version of Brainiac is a huge departure from the comics, but I actually really love this take on the character. Brainiac being a Kryptonian AI developed for war is an exceptional idea and the show executed it well. Brainiac thinking of himself as the one true "Kryptonian" is a neat idea and he bascially encapsulates all the worst aspects of Kryptonian society, but he ultimately has a very skewed idea and perception of what Kryptonian means because his concept of it is based entirely on war. His "empire" consists of countless dead worlds and while I'm sure the Kryptonian Empire wasn't the ideal picturesque society that Kara imagined either, somehow, I doubt that the Kryptonian Empire destroyed worlds just for the sake of destroying them. But Brainiac only knows war, death, and destruction. His perception of Krypton is based on all of those things, so he distorts the memory of Krypton with his perversion of what Krypton was.

And I think these different elements of Krypton are what make it such an interesting and fascinating planet. Krypton should be an exceptionally advanced and beautiful world, but in my opinion, it also needs to be a planet who's death was the result of Krypton's own faults. And their death being a result of an out of control AI after years of war is a tragedy fitting Krypton.

I think it's also especially interesting how Clark has struggled to reconcile these different ideas of Krypton. He feared his parents and his father, thought they had sought to destroy Earth, but now he has learned it was more complicated. He has learned that his father loved him and saved him out of that love. That his father wanted to stop the war. I hope the show continues to explore that idea of legacy, heritage, and the mixed feelings that come with that. I think it's very specifically culturally relevant these days as people become more aware of history and struggle to balance the complex feelings that can stem from that. I have more thoughts about that, but I'll leave it for another time.

I especially think the show does a great job of exploring that sense of loneliness and isolation that Clark felt throughout the season, throughout his whole life, with being an alien totally alone on Earth. And Clark and Kara's interactions, them becoming friends and playing a game in the asteroid belt really made me smile from ear to ear. They're just two lonely kids who are finally able to heal that inner child and grow up. It's great.

Anyway, I can go on and on and on. But most of my thoughts will just consist of "it's great," and "i loved that." So, I'll end this post here.
